Two is Better than One!
Carson and Tiffany turned 5 and 3 at the beginning of this month. While it is fun to combine their birthday party's together it is also extremely challenging. I always hope to have a good balance of each kids birthday party theme and this year was a little challenging.
Each year I ask the kids what they want on their cake. The cake decision is the biggest one they have to make and for Carson is the hardest. He loves all things tractor, cattle, and construction related. The night before I finally got him to narrow down his choices a bit, knowing that it would involve some cows and a tractor I told him we would "finish" it together in the morning.
The next morning I had the hay bales and "hay" on the cake, Carson then told me he wanted cows to be out eating the hay bales, a common occurrence around here! I laughed and so did he, it turned out great.
Tiffany wanted a llama cake, same as the year before. This year I made the entire cake the llama, besides fighting with the frosting getting to warm while making the cake, it was pretty easy to make.
While I am by no means a baker, I always enjoy making the kids birthday cakes. Granted it is always a late night before their joint birthday party, the excitement on their faces the next morning when they see their special cakes can't be beat!
