Homemade marshmallows are a fun treat this Holiday Season. They make a great little gift for friends, family, and neighbors - or to make with kids!
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Honey or Maple Syrup (Use 100% real maple syrup)
- 1 Cup water, divided
- 4 Tbsp gelatin
Directions:
In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of water and the gelatin. Let it bloom (when the gelatin absorbs and thicken) while preparing the other ingredients.
In a small saucepan, mix the maple syrup (or honey) with the remaining 1/2 cup of water. Heat over medium heat until it reaches a light boil, remove from heat.
In a stand mixer, add the bloomed gelatin to the stand mixer bowl. While mixing on a low speed, slowly pour in the hot maple syrup mixture.
Once combined, slowly increase the mixer speed to high and whip for approximately 6-8 minutes or until the mixture doubles in volume and becomes fluffy.
Pour mixture into a parchment paper lined baking dish and spread evenly.
Let marshmallow mixture set for a few hour or overnight at room temperature.
Once firm, cut into square or use a cookie cutter to make fun Holiday shapes.
